Circuit training

This is our go to exercise at U9 to get sweaty and get the endorphins pumping through the veins. There are loads of awesome training studios where you can sign up for a HIIT training session in the eastern beaches. Think - F45, Symetrie, Agoga and Lifecycle Fitness. 

Boxing

If you need to release some extra tension and want to get a serious sweat on sign up for a boxing session.  In addition to boosting strength and cardiorespiratory fitness, boxing improves many skill-related parameters of fitness, including balance, coordination, reactivity, and agility. Think - Transpose fitness, Symetrie and Buf girls boxing. 

Yoga

Attend one of the many yoga studios around the eastern beaches for a sweaty flow session, which is great for stress relief, toning, strengthening and maintaining strength and flexibility. Alternatively, you can find a nice quite spot on the beach and do some sun salutations whilst taking in the view. Think -This is yoga, Yoga by the sea and Dharma Shala. 

Swimming

Instead of floating in the backyard pool, get out in the waves for a great full body work out. From toning your core to speeding up your metabolism, there are so many reasons for this to be your new go-to form of exercise—all year around. Think- any of the awesome beaches in the East.

Walking

Go for a nice long walk which is a great way to be active, get the blood pumping and even break into a sweat. Include some soft sand walking, which will give the legs an extra work out and burns about 30 percent more calories than you would by just pounding the pavement. Think – Bondi to Bronte, Centennial park and Coogee to Maroubra

We believe an active lifestyle can absolutely improve your state of mind. This means instead of gulping down your morning soy, double shot, low fat, extra frothy organic latte to cope with life, you can sip it slowly, smile and wave at the d… head that just cut you off in the traffic.  It also can improve your rig, so no more gasping for air whilst sprinting up the stairs to your favourite fried chicken burger joint or being unable to run to get to the front of the annual boxing sale queue.

UNIT NINE came about from our love of training and our addiction to buying sports gear (we have a lot of the stuff). We couldn’t quite find any we loved that was also great quality, so we made it!  We train hard, laugh lots, eat even more and dream BIG. We firmly believe in balance and that being active and healthy doesn’t have to be super serious.  The two of us met in 2010 whilst looking for flatmates and have become awesome friends over the years and yes we live in UNIT NINE.
